Now Rotorua is to host one of the United States' most notorious bad boys of the entertainment world - Bobby Brown. Like a modern day Miles Davis, who detested white men (but enjoyed the company of white girls!), Bobby Brown has shown more form than a generation of musicians, British pop bands included.
His stellar career has included the following lowlights:
In 1993, arrested for an overly suggestive stage performance.
In 1995, arrested after a brawl in a Disney World nightclub. A patron allegedly made a pass at a woman in Brown's company had his ear at least partially torn off. (Brown settled out of court and charges were dropped.)
harged with battery several months in Los Angeles after allegedly kicking a hotel security guard who tried to halt a party in Brown's room (sentenced to two years' probation).
The same year, Brown checked himself into the Betty Ford Clinic to battle drug and alcohol problems. August 1996, he wrecked wife Whitney Houston's leased Porsche while speeding in Florida with a reported blood-alcohol level twice the legal limit.
In the summer of 1998, Brown was arrested for sexual battery in 1998 over alleged incident in the Beverly Hills Hotel, although no charges were filed for lack of evidence.
The drunk-driving incident led to five days in gaol; after spending time in rehab, he was arrested again for allegedly having shown up at the jail drunk.
Brown then reportedly violated his probation by testing positive for cocaine several times; while those charges were dropped, he was sentenced to 75 days in jail for refusing to take another drug test in the summer of 2000.
He returned to the spotlight in 2002. Following a duet with Ja Rule he was captured by the police for marijuana possession and driving without a license after a routine stop for speeding.
Sexual battery against his then wife, Whitney Houston. Other instances are numerous.
Situation reversed, any of the aforementioned would keep Brown out of the United States.
Welcome to New Zealand, Bobby!
